BROKAW, G. William (Bill)


The Wickenburg Sun, Wickenburg, AZ April 26, 1995, p. 2 G. William (Bill) Brokaw of East Liverpool, Ohio, died April 19 in Phoenix. He was 77. Mr. Brokaw was born March 18, 1918 in East Liverpool. He had been a frequent winter visitor to Phoenix and Yarnell for the past 24 years. Mr. Brokaw was raised in East Liverpool and graduated from East Liverpool High School in 1935. He later received a bachelor’s degree from Marietta College in Marietta, Ohio, a law degree from the University of Cincinnati. He served as a district attorney for 16 years, and practiced law in a private practice for 40 years. Mr. Brokaw was a member of the First United Methodist Church in East Liverpool, where he served on the administrative board and was treasurer of the finance committee. He was actively involved in all aspects of the church throughout his life. Mr. Brokaw was a member of the Ohio Bar Association, the Lions Club, Elks Lodge, Mason, Shriners and American Legion. Survivors include his wife of 52 years. Helen M. Brokaw; sons William L. Brokaw of Lancaster, Ohio and G. Thomas Brokaw of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; daughter Jan Mathis of Yarnell; and eight grandchildren. Memorial services were April 23 at the Yarnell Community Church. Rev. Milton Ensley officiated. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or First United Methodist Church of East Liverpool, Ohio. All arrangements were handled by Grimshaw Mortuary of Phoenix.
