Wilfred E. “Pete” Petersen of Edmonds, Washington, died May 23. He was 73. Mr. Petersen was born in 1922 in Dryden, Washington.
Mr. Petersen was a former resident and businessman in Wickenburg for 20 years. He owned Pete’s Market Basket, with stores in Wickenburg, Salome, Aguila and Lake Alamo. He also owned grocery stores in Phoenix before returning to Washington state, where he retired from Albertson’s Grocery in 1984.
While living in Wickenburg, Mr. Petersen was a member of the Gold Shirt Gang, the Rotary Club and Kiwanis.
He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Navy.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Thelma I. Petersen; daughters Mrs. Roger (Carolyn) Bowman, Mrs. John (Marilyn) Hein and their respective husbands; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sister Mrs. Helen Moor Marcoz of Phoenix; and brothers Leonard and Stanley Petersen, both of Okanogan, Washington, and Vincent Petersen of Phoenix.
Services were held May 26 in Lynnwood, Washington.
