Today's News-Herald, Lake Havasu City, Arizona - Published Monday, March 21, 2011 - Carl Edward Johnson, of Lake Havasu City, and Sidney, Neb., died March 17, 2011 at the age of 86. Carl, son of Russell and Kathryn Johnson, was born in Simpson, Kan. After graduating from high school, he enlisted in the Army Air Corps and proudly served as a B24 navigator flying out of England and Italy. After serving his country, Carl completed his formal education at Kansas State University. He was a respected and successful businessman who owned and operated the J & M Trucking Co. for more than 20 years. On June 10, 1944, he married Pauline Martin who survives. He also leaves son, Michael (Suzanne), of Leucadia, Calif.; daughter, Mary Lou (Lee), of Cary, N.C.; son, Jim, of Las Vegas, Nev.; daughter, Karen, of Aurora, Colo.; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Also surviving are his sister, Shirley Reser, of Hutchinson, Kan.; and brothers, Ross (Jane), of Bella Vista, Ariz., and Jerry (Beth), of Beloit, Kan. Besides his parents, Carl was preceded in death by his daughter, Nancy; and his brothers, James and Olin. A memorial service will be at a later date in Glasco, Kan.
