Robert “Bob” Fischer Sr. of Wickenburg died July 9 in Glendale. He was 69. Mr. Fischer was born November 11, 1925 in Chicago, Illinois. He had lived in Arizona for seven years.
Before coming to Wickenburg in 1988, he worked as a custodian for the Lompoc Elementary School District in California where he was loved by the staff and children. He was a member of the American Legion Kellis Draper Post No. 12 and the V.F.W. No. 1717 in Lompoc, California.
Mr. Fischer’s love for people led him to be a dedicated volunteer for the American Red Cross in Wickenburg. He worked as a driver for special transportation services with his wife, Grace, whom he married in April of 1993. He was also a member of the Disaster Action Team for Maricopa County and Redeemer Lutheran Church in Wickenburg.
Mr. Fischer is survived by his wife, Grace; two daughters, Loretta Moore and Jacqueline Gabby, both of California; son Robert Fisher, Jr. of California; four step-daughters, Lori Comini of California, Debra Akre of Idaho, Denise Sanders and Karen Travillion, both of California, three step-sons, David and Larry Reid, both of California, and Jeffrey Reid of Alaska; sister Marcella Werfelmann of California; 24 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Services will be Thursday, July 13 at the Wickenburg Funeral Home Chapel with visitation to follow. The Rev. Robert McLeod will officiate. Interment will take place in the Lompoc District Cemetery in Lompoc, California.
