Samuel “Sam” Francis Ambrose of Phoenix died July 14 in Phoenix. He was 68. Mr. Ambrose was born January 23, 1927 in Couders Port, Pennsylvania.
He was an administrator with the Wickenburg, Scottsdale and Bowie school districts. In Wickenburg, he was Superintendent of Schools from 1968-1980.
Mr. Ambrose was a U.S. Navy World War II veteran and served in the Korean War. He was the former owner of Appititos Restaurant and attended Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church.
He is survived by his wife, Alice Ambrose, of Phoenix; two daughters, Elise Day of Glendale and Renee Infantolino of Phoenix; two sons, Daniel of San Antonio, Texas and Peter of Spokane, Washington; parents Floyd and Catherine Amborselli of Olean, New York; two sisters, Millicent Kwiatkowski and Mary Ann Hettrick, both of Olean, New York; and seven grandchildren.
Visitation and Rosary were held July 18 at Heritage Funeral Chapel in Phoenix. Mass will be today (Wednesday, July 19) at 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church, 3220 W. Greenway Road, Peoria.
