STEPHENS, Dorothy Ruth

Arizona Daily Sun, Flagstaff, AZ Tuesday, March 22, 2011 Dorothy Ruth Stephens, 92, of Flagstaff, died Friday, March 11, 2011, at The Peaks Senior Living Community. Mrs. Stephens was born Oct. 9, 1918, on her father's farm outside of Columbia, Mo. She married Hal Stephens in April 1941 and moved many times while Mr. Stephens worked as a geologist with the USGS. They settled and remained in Flagstaff from February 1965. Mrs. Stephens was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She loved gardening, reading, sending greeting cards to family and friends, and was a member of Flagstaff Christian Fellowship. Her family extends heart-felt thanks to the pastor and members of her church who visited her often during her final months at The Peaks. Mrs. Stephens is survived by sons Jeff Stephens of Page and Val Stephens of Park City, Utah; two grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, Hal Stephens, in July 2010. The family requests that memorial donations be made to Hospice Compassus, 1000 N.
