Edmund C. Madrid “Mundie” passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by family and loved ones on March 19, 2011 at the age of 87 years old. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend. He was born May 21, 1923 in El Paso, Texas. His parents moved to Miami, Ariz. when he was two years old where he later met the love of his life, Mary.
“Mundie” proudly served in the Navy and later also worked at the CC Camps. He married Mary on Jan. 10, 1944, shortly after they moved to southern California, where they started their life together as husband and wife. He started work in upholstery and later owned his own business, Olympic Quilting Inc., which he owned for 25 successful years. “Mundie” played baseball for over 42 years.
He is survived by his wife, Mary of 67 years of marriage; son, Ernie Madrid; two daughters, Annie Diaz and Nadine Sierra; six grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, two sisters, and five brothers.
He was a very loving man who lived a long, fulfilling, prosperous life and is loved by all of his family and friends.
Services will be held on Saturday, March 26, 2011 at Mariposa Gardens, 6747 E. Broadway Road, Mesa, Ariz. at noon.
