Jack Edward Williams of Congress, died September 4 in Congress. He was 72. Mr. Williams was born march 1, 1923 in Fort Worth, Texas. He had lived in Arizona 65 years, coming here from California.
He was a World War II decorated Air Corps veteran. He was a member of the Gold Shirt Gang, National Rifle Association and the Operating Engineers Union Local 428.
Mr. Williams was a cowboy. He worked on the railroad and was a heavy equipment operator. Mr. Williams was an avid fisherman and hunter, and enjoyed doing leather work repairing saddles, holsters and other items.
Mr. Williams is survived by sons Grant Williams of Tampa, Florida, David Williams of Stevens Point, Wisconsin and John and Jeffrey Williams, both of Lordsburg, New Mexico; sisters Gladys M. Benedict of Morongo, California; Lena Jensen of Claremont, California and Mary Lyerla of Carbon, Texas; nephew Justin Harlan d of Tucson; and his close friend and trail buddy Larry Stedman of Morristown.
A gathering of family and friends with remembrances was held Saturday, September 9 at Frey Funeral Home and Cremation Service.
