John P. Brusco, of Salome, died October 10 in Salome. He was 76. Mr. Brusco was born November 15, 1918 in Alexandria, Louisiana. He had lived in Arizona for 60 years.
Mr. Brusco moved to Salome at the age of 16. His father, Harry Brusco, ran a gas station and rental cabins for years. John Brusco took over the business when his parents passed away.
Mr. Brusco entered the Army Air Corps in August 1943 and served until December 1945. During his term of duty he was decorated with the Air Medal with one OLC, American Defense Ribbon, Asiatic-Pacific Theater Ribbon with four Bronze stars, Good Conduct Medal and the Distinguished Flying Cross. Also, while in the service, he attended Yale University through correspondence courses.
In 1947, he built the Post Office in Salome. Prospecting and real estate investments were his main livelihood for the rest of his life.
He is survived by his son, John A. Brusco of Scottsdale.
Services have been held. Interment was in the Wickenburg Municipal Cemetery. Pastor Duane Middleton officiated.
Memorial contributions may be made in Mr. Brusco’s name to the Tri-Valley Medical Center in Salome.
