Today's News-Herald, Lake Havasu City, AZ - Published Wednesday, March 23, 2011 - Rulon J. Hedelius passed away March 19, 2011, in Lake Havasu City, at the age of 80. He was born to Emil Robert Hedelius and Mary Vilate (Lutz) Hedelius Nov. 7, 1930 in Rexburg, Idaho. Rulon was a meat cutter by trade and was a member of the meat cutters’ union. He was a proud veteran of the Korean Conflict in the U.S. Navy. Rulon was a great man, a fantastic provider, a good father and grandfather and had quick-witted sense of humor. He was well known and loved in the community and was an avid supporter of Havasu Community Health Center and the Eagles. He enjoyed the nurses at the dialysis center, caregivers from Hospice of Havasu and appreciated especially Kim and Bev, the cleaning ladies. A special thank you to the Veterans Administration. Rulon is survived by his loving family, wife and soul mate, Colette Hedelius, of Lake Havasu City; son, Alan Ruffell, of Utah; daughter, Susan Sparks, of Wyoming; grandson Preston J. Ruffell and adopted daughter Michelle Young. He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Carl; and grandchild, Sheridan Hedelius. Memorial services will be at Bethany Bible Church at 1 p.m., Saturday with Pastor Jerry Adams officiating. VFW and American Legion will perform military honors.
