MARTINEZ, Manuel A. (Mel)

Manuel "Mel" A. Martinez passed away at the age of 81 on March 22, 2011, surrounded by loving family. Born in Tucson, Arizona on April 12, 1929, he served his country as a proud Marine stationed in Hawaii. 

Mel retired from the City of Tucson after serving more than 30 years as a Foreman with the Sanitation Department. A humble man, Mel loved the Lord, friends, fishing, hunting and the great outdoors. We will all miss his unique sense of humor, pleasant nature, story-telling ways and great appreciation for the simple things in life. 

He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Catherine; daughter, Anna Marie; son, Manny (Sandy); granddaughter, Crystal; daughters, Jessie Alvarez, Rosie Camacho and Pat Martinez. He is survived by three brothers, two sisters and many loving extended family members. 

Family and friends may gather Saturday, March 26, 2011 from 10:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. at CARRILLO'S TUCSON MORTUARY (South Chapel) 240 S. Stone. A Memorial Service will be offered at 11:00 a.m. Arrangements by CARRILLO'S TUCSON MORTUARY, INC.
