TORREZ, Julia (Jay)

Julia "Jay" Luna Torrez passed away in Bisbee, Arizona on Friday, March 18, 2011 at the age of 95. She was born December 19, 1915, the daughter of Antonia E. and Jesus E. Luna in Guanajuato, Guanajuato, Mexico. Julia was preceded in death by her parents, husband of 72 years, Aurelio "Guero" Q. Torrez and sister, Juanita "Jenny" L. Campos. Family members left to miss her are her sons, John L. Torrez (Delia) and Raul L. Torrez (Elvia); daughters, Alma "Martha" Ruiz (Edmundo), Toni L Torrez, Teresa "Terri" Grencik (Stephen) and Rachel T. Acuna (George); 16 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Julia was raised in Clarkdale and Jerome. She graduated in 1935 from Jerome High School. She was once employed at Clarkdale Laundry but took great pride in being a homemaker who enjoyed crocheting and spending time with her family and friends. A Rosary will be held Thursday, March 24, 2011 at 9:30 a.m. at St. Patrick Church in Bisbee. Mass will follow at 10:00 a.m. Burial Services at Evergreen Cemetery are private.
