WILSON, Clifton E. (Clif)


Clifton E. Wilson Clif Wilson died peacefully on March 12, 2011 having suffered a massive stroke. He was 91 years old. Clif cultivated a robust physical and mental life which stay with him throughout his productive years. He visited frequently with old friends and treasured his newest friendship with Judy Bowen of Green Valley. His travels continued to delight him as did visits to and from friends here and abroad. Clif enjoyed several career patterns. He spent a number of years working as a reporter in the northwest, but found his true love to be teaching. Clif received his Ph.D. from Minnesota in 1958 and finally found a home in the Department of Political Science teaching International Law. Look out Hugo Grotius. Clif was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Edith Wilson. He has many nieces and nephews who he joined every summer at family reunions. Dee Phillips has assumed a particular importance in his life. In 1947, Clif married Geneal Cowan, both Clif and Gene were endowed with a humanistic perspective on life and dedicated themselves to the efforts of the United Nations. Gene, who preceded Clif in death was the founder of the Tucson UNICEF store while Clif organized the Model UN Program at the UofA. Clif we are beholden to you for so much.
