1923 - 2011
Frederick Lynch Heisley was born in Pittsburgh on January 12, 1923.
His family weathered the storm during the Great Depression in Pennsylvania. When the war broke out, Fred was attending college at Cornell University. He joined the Army Air Corp and trained at Fort Sill to fly a L-4 reconnaissance plane.
During a brief stint at Camp Robinson in Little Rock, Arkansas, he met his sweetheart, Betty. They were married for 65 years.
Fred moved the family to Phoenix in 1950. He worked for Goodyear Aerospace and Wiley Electronics before starting his own company, ENSCO.
He and Betty retired to their cabin in Pinewood, and then down to Cottonwood for the remainder of their lives.
Fred is survived by two children, Rick Heisley of Cottonwood and Julie Fleming of Phoenix. Fred has three grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
