The Wickenburg Sun, Wickenburg, AZ February 4, 1998, p. 2 & Feb. 11. p. 4 Barbara Jane Pruitt of Wickenburg, died January 31 in Phoenix. She was 67. Mrs. Pruitt was born July 31, 1930 in London Mills, Illinois. She had lived in Arizona for the past 40 years. Mrs. Pruitt grew up in El Paso, Texas, before moving back east to Topeka, Kansas where he met her husband-to-be Lloyd Pruitt. Barbara and Lloyd were married on February 15, 1958 and moved to Arizona. Following her husband around the state as he worked construction, Barbara fell in love with the small town of Wickenburg. Although she lived in many small towns and all of the large cities in the state, she never lost her love for Wickenburg and finally got her wish to live here in 1980. Mrs. Pruitt spent her days caring for her children and her nights caring for their father and all of her time worrying about their futures. Among the hobbies Barbara enjoyed were crocheting, needle point and leather working. Her favorite, however, was knitting afghans. Her handiwork will carry on for generations and bring joy to all who get the opportunity to view it. Barbara was a wonderful mother and a loving wife. She gave a little of herself to everyone she met, and few had an unkind word to say about her. She will be dearly missed b y her family and friends. Survivors include her husband, Lloyd S., of Wickenburg; daughters Barbara J. Angle and Jane Pruitt; sons John H., Bill D. and Dallas Pruitt; brothers Russell and Fred Kent; sisters Judy Bach, Judy King and Joan Kent; 11 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by a brother, Tom Kent. Visitation was held at 1 p.m. Sunday, February 8 in the Wickenburg Funeral Home chapel. Services followed at the Funeral Home Chapel and interment was at the Wickenburg Municipal Cemetery. Pastor Bill Root Jr. officiated. Brown’s Wickenburg Funeral Home handled all the arrangements.
