GOWDY, Robert

Robert Gowdy, 50, of Mesa, Arizona passed away on May 2, 2008. Robert Gowdy was born April 2, 1958 in Chandler, Arizona, to Fred and Vylee Gowdy. Robert was the sixth of ten children, his twin Richard preceded him in death. Robert passed May 2, 2008 from congestive heart failure. Robert grew up in the Washington/Escobedo area in Mesa, Arizona. He received his education from Booker T. Washington & Franklin Elementary schools, Kino Jr. High, and graduated from Westwood High School in 1976. He completed many college courses. Robert was employed with Intel Corporation for twenty-four years. Both Robert and his twin Richard bonded with many lifelong friends during their tenure with Intel Corp. Robert cherished his family and could always be counted on for any and everything. Loving son and brother, dedicated father, devoted husband, Robert was truly loved and adored by many. Robert's love and laughter will be missed more by his wife Roxanne, his children, Robert, Robyn, & Russell, his mother, Vylee Stewart, five sisters; Patricia Coby, Brenda Robbins (Kenneth), Sandra Nelson, Cynthia Gowdy, and Denise Gowdy, three brothers, Fred Gowdy Jr. (Karen), Bernard Gowdy, and James Gowdy, his father in-law, Paul Robertson, mother in-law, Helen Fuller, three sister in-laws, Lillian (Tonie) Robertson, Yaminah Stanley (Larry), Ayana Eustace, a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews cousins, and friends and one God son, Chaz Scott. Viewing - Friday, May 9, 2008 6:00pm-8:00pm. Services - Saturday, May 10, 2008 at 10:00a.m., Greater Bethel AME Church, 7040 S. 40th Street, Phoenix, AZ 85042. Interment - City of Mesa Cemetery. Repast - Washington Activity Center 44 E. 5th St., Mesa, AZ 85201. In lieu of flower, a college fund has been established for Robert's Children: Robert Gowdy Memorial Fund: Desert Schools FCU, Phoenix, AZ.
