Mrs. Hancock went to be with Jesus on February 9, 1989. Mrs. Hancock was born January 18, 1920 in Indianola, Iowa to Raymond and Cella Bell Weeks. She had lived in Arizona for the past 30 years. She had five sisters and three brothers. Leona married James Lee Hancock in May of 1939. They had four children. Leona and her youngest son, Randy, came to Wickenburg in 1968 and Randy attended Wickenburg High School while Leona was a waitress at the Gold Nugget Restaurant. She also worked at the Frontier Inn, which was owned at that time by the Taggerts. Thank you mom, grandma, great-grandma and friend for all your love! We love you and we’ll see you soon! Survivors include her daughter, Betty Jo Barton of Washington; son Randy A. Hancock of Hawaii; sister Ella Mae Warden of Idaho, Kay Whittstater of Florida and Joan Dotson of Arizona; brother George Weeks of Idaho; 10 grandchildren: Toni, Diana, Gina, Charles, Debbie, Michelle, Joy Lee, Zacary, Nicole and Dakota; and 12 great-grandchildren: Travis, Jessica, Melissa, Gianna, Brandon, Steven, Ashley, Joey, Gina, Ryan, Georgie and David. She was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Cella Bell; husband Leo; daughter Patricia; son Charles; sisters Dorothy and Viola; and brothers William and Harvey. Services were Saturday, February 14 at the Wickenburg Funeral Home Chapel. Pastors Mike Abdollahzadeh and Dwayne Middleton officiated.
