YAW, Evelyn Ruth

The Wickenburg Sun, Wickenburg, AZ April 1, 1998, p. 14 Evelyn Ruth Yaw of Wickenburg went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, March 28 in the early morning hours. She was 66. Evie (as she was known by all who knew her) was born July 15, 1931 in Towanda, Pennsylvania. In 1959, Don and Evie relocated to Arizona, moving first to Phoenix, where Evie worked as a nurse for St. Luke’s Hospital, then to Prescott for a number of years, where she spent her summers working at the Prescott Downs Race Track before finally making Wickenburg their permanent residence for the last 20 years. Evie served many of her friends along with acquaintances as a pedicurist at her husband’s place of business, Mountain View Barber Shop for the past eight years. Evie was and will always be known as a beautiful, beloved, Godly mother and wife, who will be deeply missed by her husband, children, grandchildren and the many friends she had made along life’s way. At stated by her daughter and agreed upon by her husband, Evie may be absent from the body, but there is no greater comfort than to know that she is present with the Lord! Glory Be to God! Survivors include her husband, Donald E. Yaw of Wickenburg; daughter and son-in-law Emily and Bill Nichols of Apollo, Pennsylvania and Denise and Monty Farrar of Florida; son and daughter-in-law Ty and Dana Yaw of Prescott; sisters Josephine Van Derpool and Lucy Hemminway; brothers Walter, James, Melvin and Silas Benjamin; and grandchildren, Brooke and Cameron Yaw, Rome, Michelangelo, Jay and Natalie Nichols and David, Sarah and Monica Farrar. A memorial service was held Tuesday, March 31 at the Wickenburg Funeral Home Chapel, with Pastor Ed Wessling officiating. Brown’s Wickenburg Funeral Home handled all the arrangements.
