WAYMAN, Burton Edward


The Wickenburg Sun, Wickenburg, AZ July 1, 1998, p, 14 Burton Edward Wayman of Peeples Valley died June 22 at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Prescott. He was 79. Mr. Wayman was born July 29, 1918 to Ira and Lena Wayman of Downsville, New York, a small town situated in the foothills of the Catskill Mountains. He was educated in the Downsville school system. He married June L. Estes on March 23, 1941. Mr. Wayman was a World War II U.S. Navy veteran, having served honorably aboard the USS Niagra (APA-87) as a Fireman First Class. He was a lifelong machinist by trade, having worked for many of our nation’s well-known aerospace manufacturers. Some of them include Bendix Aviation, Bell Aircraft, Hughes and Boeing. He was a production supervisor at Skyway Mfg. of Phoenix for several years. Family members and friends will remember his ability to play the guitar and sing western music. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and traveling. He was a loving husband, a devoted father, and true friend. Mr. Wayman is survived by his wife of 57 years, June; daughters Myrna Larsen of Mesa, Patricia McCarthy of Cocolalla, Idaho, Gail Ericson of Phoenix, and Sandra Leohndorf of Crystal Lake, Illinois; sons Gary Wayman of Gilbert, James Wayman of Wickenburg, Dennis Wayman of Orting, Washington, Dale Wayman of Peeples Valley and Jerry Wayman of Scottsdale; brothers Merritt Wayman and Donald Wayman, both of Walton, New York; sisters Dorothy Ackerley and Jane Butts of Lew Beach, New York; 14 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and son Ronald in 1963. Memorial services are pending. Memory Chapel Mortuary of Prescott and Chaplain Charles Turner of the VA Medical Center have assisted with final arrangements.
