Eugene "Honda Gene" DeMaio, age 90, a 31-year resident of Bullhead City, died Thursday, March 17, 2011, in Bullhead City, Ariz.
Gene, a telephone repairman for 36 years, was born August 2, 1920, in Jeannette, Pa. In WWII, he was a Navy Seaman, First Class, for three years.
After retirement, he enjoyed fishing, RV'ing, and playing Texas Hold 'em at the Riverside Resort. He was member of the Telephone Pioneers.
Gene was preceded in death by his brother, Anthony, and sister, Eleanor.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Joan; three sons, Randall (Jan), Gary, Rudy; daughter, Pamela (Larry) Faulkner of Calif.; Joan's daughter, Susan; brother, Vincent (Ethel); two sisters, Adeline and Vivian; 16 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
I would like to give special recognition to Susan, who was a great help in Gene's care, and also thank all the wonderful people associated with Hospice of Havasu for their compassion and help during a very difficult time.
Services will be held 11:00 a.m., on Saturday, April 2, 2011, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 3055 El Mirage Way, Laughlin, Nev. Father Charles Urick will officiate.
Gene's final resting place will be at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Hollywood Hills, Calif.
