Leon J. Schimmoller of Delphos, Ohio died July 30. He was 90. Mr. Schimmoller was a former winter resident of Wickenburg. He and his wife, Isabella, who survives him, were frequent visitors to Wickenburg from the 1970s through the early 1990s.
In Ohio, Mr. Schimmoller was very active in civic affairs. He was a life member of the Van Wert, Ohio elks Lodge, the Van Wert County Sheriff’s auxiliary and served many years as Delphos auxiliary patrolman. Mr. Schimmoller founded Delphos Poultry Products in 1946 and owned and operated the business until 1972, when he retired and sold the business to his son, Tom. He was a member of St. John’s Catholic Church of Delphos.
In addition to his wife, Isabella, he is survived by a daughter, Virginia (Walter) Brinkman of Wickenburg; sons Donald (Nancy) and Thomas (Mellody) of Delphos, James (Sandra) of Springfield, Ohio and Frank (Kathy) Schimmoller of Sudbury, Massachusetts; two half sisters, Mildred and Alberta of Springfield; 23 grandchildren; and 38 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Henry and Gilbert; three sisters, Frances, Anna and Lucy; one granddaughter; and one great-granddaughter.
Memorial donations may be made to the hospice services or to the visiting nurses programs or a charity of a donor’s choice.
