ELLIS, Ray Jesse


The Wickenburg Sun, Wickenburg, AZ September 9, 1998, p. 14 Ray Jesse Ellis of Wickenburg died September 5 in Wickenburg. He was 81. Mr. Ellis was born July 26, 1917 in Augusta, Maine. He had lived in Arizona for 19 years, coming from California. Mr. Ellis served in the U.S. Marine Corps in World War II and fought in the Pacific. In 1941, he married Flora Berry in Maine, and later they moved to California. Ray and Flora raised three children in Trinity County. He served as Trinity County’s Veterans Service Officer from 1957 to 1979, when he retired and moved to Wickenburg. He was a member of Masonic Lodge 37 in Wickenburg and was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7705 in Weaverville, California. Ray is survived by his wife of 57 years, Flora, of Wickenburg; sons Richard and his wife Beth of Glendale, Arizona and Gary and his wife Gay of Mesa; daughter Linda and her husband Lynn Tackmier of Eureka, California; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He is also survived by a sister and a brother in Maine, numerous relatives and too many friends to count. Ray requested no services be held. If desired, contributions can be sent to the Masonic Lodge 37 of Wickenburg in Ray’s name. Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Wickenburg handled all the arrangements.
