Ruby Helen Marie Buckland died October 21 at her home in Wickenburg. She was 82. Mrs. Buckland was born August 4, 1916 in (McRoberts) Hazard County, Kentucky to Lon and Nellie Bowman. She had lived in Arizona 50 years.
Ruby, her husband Reginald “Buck” Buckland and their four children came to Arizona in 1953 from the small coal-mining community of Eccles, West Virginia. The settled in Wickenburg more than 30 years ago, falling in love with its wide open spaces and desert surroundings.
Ruby was a dedicated mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who loved children and helped raise all of the succeeding generations until her illness overcame her and she could no longer do what she loved most. Ruby worked hard all her life and made a lasting, loving impact on everyone’s life whom she touched.
Survivors include her daughters Regina Holloway of Chino Valley, Arizona, Nevada Taylor of Wickenburg and Ruth Ann White of Wickenburg; son Gerald Buckland of Payson, Arizona; 16 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Friday, October 23 at 11 a.m. at the Wickenburg Funeral Home Chapel, with Pastor Dwayne Middleton officiating. Interment is at the Wickenburg Cemetery.
Brown’s Wickenburg Funeral Home handled all the arrangements.
