Lucille Elizabeth Young-Corbet of Wickenburg, the last of the Youngs of Pleasant Valley, Arizona died Friday, October 23 in Sun City West. She was 86. She was born March 31, 1912 in Globe, Arizona and lived in Arizona her entire life.
She played the piano and organ for the Globe Presbyterian Church and others while in high school. She graduated from Northern Arizona University and taught school first in San Simon, Arizona and later in Yuma until her retirement. Lucille was inducted into the Yuma County Teachers Hall of Fame on March 14, 1995, an honor she greatly prized. She loved her school children, her music and her family.
Lucille, or Granny as she preferred, is survived by her four sons Jim Corbet of Wickenburg, Leo Corbet of Phoenix, Chris Corbet of Yuma and Frank Corbet of Loma Linda, California; 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Visitation is scheduled for 8-9 a.m. today (Wednesday, October 28) at Brown’s Wickenburg Funeral Home. Services will be held at 10 a.m. today (Wednesday, October 28) at St. Alban’s Episcopal church, 357 W. Yavapai St. in Wickenburg, with Rev. Dan Gerrard officiating Interment will be at the Wickenburg Cemetery.
Brown’s Wickenburg Funeral Home handled all the arrangements.
