The Wickenburg Sun, Wickenburg, AZ November 4, 1998, p. 18 Ruth Caroline Lauman of Morristown died October 28 in Morristown. She was 78. Mrs. Lauman was born February 17, 1920 in Akron, Ohio, and had been a resident of Arizona for 60 years. Ruth moved with her family from Akron to Arizona in 1938. She was a 1942 graduate of Arizona State University with a degree in Elementary Education. She taught for 31 years in several valley schools, retiring from Litchfield Park Elementary School in 1983. As a parent and teacher, Ruth was instrumental in establishing Robert E. Simpson Elementary School in Phoenix. She also was a Cub Scout Leader in Pack 33. Ruth was a prolific painter, specializing in Southwest art, an accomplished trumpeter and an avid gardener. She delighted in using her artistic abilities to produce gifts for her family and friends. Her father and mother were Edward Henry Kuhn and Martha Caroline Thrall Kuhn Wiebelt. She is missed by her family: George Wheeler Lauman, her husband of 54 years from Morristown; sons Stephen Peter Kuhn Lauman (wife Janis) of Vernon, British Columbia and G. W. “Pat” Lauman, Jr. (wife Jayne) of Sedona, Arizona; daughter Frances Caroline Lauman of Ventura, California, grandchildren Stephen Wheeler Lauman (wife Debra), Robert George Lauman, Sarah Lynn Lauman and Kendra Willamette Lauman; and sister, Frances Kuhn Davenport of Litchfield Park. A private family memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers or donations, please plant a tree in her memory. Cards or shared memories of Ruth will be welcomed by her family.
