The Wickenburg Sun, Wickenburg, AZ November 4, 1998, p. 18 Alvira Lena Hummel of Wickenburg died October 31 in Wickenburg. She was 91. Mrs. Hummel was born May 30, 1907 in Tama, Iowa and lived in Arizona for 43 years. Alvira worked in the general office of the telephone company in Toledo, Iowa for 15 years. She moved to Phoenix in 1955 with her husband and son. There, she worked as a salesperson for more than 16 years, retiring in 1971. She moved to Wickenburg in 1974. Alvira attended Redeemer Lutheran Church in Wickenburg. Survivors include her son Donald A. Hummel; grandchildren Lori A. James and David D. Hummel; four great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents Fred and Sophia Schultz; brothers Orion and Clyde; and sisters, Minnie and Julie. Funeral services will be held Friday, November 6 through the Smith funeral Home in Grinnell, Iowa and burial be at the Hazelwood Cemetery in Grinnell. All shipping arrangements were handled by Brown’s Wickenburg Funeral Home.
