Merle E. Thompson of Anderson, South Carolina, died November 15 in Anderson. He was 62. Mr. Anderson was born June 5, 1936 in Springfield, Illinois.
He was a computer program analyst with Schlumberger Industries for 43 years and was a member of the Clemson, South Carolina First Baptist Church. Mr. Anderson also was an avid bowler and loved football.
Survivors include his wife Patricia of Anderson; sons Donald and Mark of Anderson and Craig of Clemson, South Carolina; daughter Lisa Marie Hopkins of Pendleton, South Carolina; brother, Charles E. Thompson of West Springfield, Massachusetts; sister Brenda Fornoff of Congress; grandchildren Matthew, Christopher, Michael and Amber Thompson of Anderson, and Melody Isenhour of Boone, North Carolina. He was preceded in death by one nephew. Mr. Anderson was the son of the late Charles and Wilma (Portwood) Thompson.
Funeral services have been held in South Carolina. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Upstate, 1835 Rogers Road, Anderson, South Carolina 29622.
