RICHESON, Maurice


The Wickenburg Sun, Wickenburg, AZ November 18, 1998, p. 18 & Nov. 25, p. 20 Maurice Richeson of Rio Vista Hills in Wickenburg died November 16 at the VA Nursing Home in Prescott. He was 83. Mr. Richeson was born January 14, 1915 in Effingham, Illinois. He had lived in Arizona for the past 24 years, coming from Nevada. Mr. Richeson was a member of the Masonic Lodge of Albuquerque, New Mexico, the Scottish Rite in Las Vegas, Nevada, Zelzah of Las Vegas, Nevada, the Wickenburg Shriners, Oregon State VFW and the American Legion in Wickenburg. He worked as a railroad claims adjuster, an inspector for the State of Nevada and as a cattle rancher. Also, he was a World War II Army veteran, acting as a reporter and photographer for the “YANK” newspaper in the South Pacific. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and loved to travel. Mr. Richeson also was a member of the Methodist Church in Illinois. Survivors include his friend and companion, May Page of Wickenburg; daughters Iva Dale Goldsmith and Dudley Marita Slade, both of New Mexico; step-son Kris B. Lloyd of Texas; sisters-in-law Mildred Richeson of Effingham and Margie Strand of Sarasota, Florida; grandchildren Ilana Leah Hoff, Nova Ara Slade and Araelia Lea Slade all of New Mexico and two great-grandchildren; nieces Peggy Duvall and Debbie Bloemer, both of Effingham, Illinois and Juanita Piggot of Murfeesbroo, Tennessee. Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 28 at 4 p.m. at Frey Funeral Home, with Rev. Dan Gerrard and Rev. Jack Smart officiating. Interment will be held in Mount Zion Cemetery in Effingham, Illinois with the Masonic Lodge officiating. Contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Fund, c/o Mary Ackley, R&R Retreat, P. O. Box 2975, Wickenburg, AZ 85358. Frey Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 980 N. Tegner St., in Wickenburg handled all the arrangements.
