Gerald B. (Gerry) Cavanaugh, 74 of Dubois, Wyo., formerly of Gillespie, passed away March 17. He was born in Carlinville, Ill., the oldest child of George C. and Margaret Hartman Cavanaugh.
He married Yvonne Banks Pedrucci in Laramie, Wyo., on August 2, 1988. She survives along with daughters Cheri (Mark) Quinto of Studio City, Calif., and Diane Cavanaugh of Valley Village, Calif.; stepsons Scott (Nancy) Pedrucci of Springfield, Marc (finace/ Amy Polette) Pedrucci of Denver, Colo.; granddaughters Autumn Pedrucci, Bryce Quinto and Siobhan Holden; sisters Kevin (Dave) Tucker of Gillespie, and Kathleen (Thomas) Schafer of Richardson, Texas. He was predeceased by his parents, brother Larry and sister Maureen.
Gerry served in the US Army where he was a member of the Army Pistol Team. He retired in 1989 after 27 years with the Illinois State Police.
He was a Life Member of the NRA, Wickenburg (Ariz.) Sportsman Club, Dubois Gun Club, and Single Action Shooting Society. Gerry was an avid competitive pistol shooter and has won numerous awards at the local, state and national levels.
Arrangements are by David’s Desert Chapel Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held in Dubois Sept. 4.
