GRANTHAM, Frank J.


The Wickenburg Sun, Wickenburg, AZ December 23, 1998, p. 16 Frank J. Grantham of Wickenburg died December 18 in Wickenburg. He was 80. Mr. Grantham was born November 28, 1918 in Tempe and had lived in Arizona his entire life. He was born to Thomas an Agnes Grantham. From the age of 13, he worked as a cowboy on numerous ranches across the state. He served in the Army in the South Pacific jungles during World War II and was awarded many medals of honor. Upon his return, he married Gladys L. Wootan on December, 1947 and they had four daughters; Diane, Rose Lee, Shirley and Rea. Later in life, he had another daughter, Rashell. He worked the Mule Shoe Ranch from 1949 to 1955 and for the Bureau of Land Management in Seles and Sassaby, Arizona from 1955-1961. He worked as a cowboy in Arizona and California and also spent some time working in the Arizona mines. His greatest love was team roping. Mr. Grantham is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law Shirley and Steve Oliver of Congress, and Lee and Bob Waters of Phoenix; daughters Reba F. Meares of Texas, Diane Bradburn of Texas and Rashell Grantham-Burstfield of Montana; sisters Edith Cone and Pearlie Perkins of Dewey, Arizona; brother, Richard Grantham of Texas; and 14 grandchildren. Graveside services will be held Saturday, December 26 at 10 a.m. at the Congress Cemetery. Brown’s Wickenburg Funeral Home handled all the arrangements.
