FOLKNER,
John E. (Whimpy)
Arizona Silver Belt, Globe, AZ
Wednesday, March 30, 2011
John E. Folkner “Whimpy,” age 76 of Mesa, Ariz., was called home to his Heavenly Father on Tuesday, Feb. 8, 2011 in Mesa, Ariz. John was born Oct. 19, 1934, in Bristow, Okla. to James Edward Folkner and Julia Melvina Masterson. Shortly thereafter the Folkners moved to Arizona where John lived out the rest of his days between Mesa, Tucson, Florence, Apache Junction, and Globe, Ariz.
John served his country in the United States Air Force from 1953 to 1957.
John enjoyed Karaoke, hunting and camping. But fishing was his greatest outdoor passion. So much so that at his home in Globe, he raised worms so that there would be no need to wait for the bait store to open. He could get up and go anytime he wanted, which he very often did. When he wasn’t fishing he was playing pool, cards or bowling. When his kids grew up and had families of their own, there was nothing that John enjoyed more than spending time with his grandkids.
John is preceded in death by his parents, James and Julia Folkner; brother, Bobby Folkner; first wife, Julia Faye; children, Sharon Damron and John Jr.
John is survived by his children, Sue (Terry) Young of Springerville, Ariz., Rose Mary (Thomas) of Bagdad, Ariz., Roberta Folkner of Pima, Ariz., Susan (Leroy) Pollard of Mesa, Ariz., Fred (Michelle) Folkner of Ephraim, Utah, Doreen (Michael) Selby of Mesa, Ariz.; second wife, Darlene Folkner of Mesa, Ariz.; 36 grandchildren and over 40 great-grandchildren.
Services were held at the LDS church at 933 E. Brown Road, on Monday, Feb. 21, 2011.
John will always be missed by all that knew and loved him.
