Duana Lynn Moses, 26, was born on March 25, 1984, the daughter of Duane and Linda Moses of Bylas. She was the God daughter of Robertson and Veronica Preston; paternal grandparents were Hugh Moses, Sr. (deceased) and Carnation Moses of Bylas and maternal grandparents were Howard and Mary Anderson of San Carlos.
Duana was the oldest of the family with two sisters, Lateshia Russell and Lisa Joy Moses of Bylas, three brothers, Dusty, Duane, Jr., and Lane Moses of Bylas, one niece, three nephews and numerous uncles and aunts.
Duana attended Bylas Head Start, Bylas Lutheran Mission School, and Ft. Thomas High School. She graduated from high school in 2004. She had plans to attend college at Southwest Indian Polytechnic Institute (S.I.P.I.) in Albuquerque, N.M. where her relative, Candice Tessay, attended, but she worried about her grandma because nobody was able to take care of her. Duana was raised by her grandma Carnation Moses. She came to live with her when she was 10 years old.
Duana loved to write poems and listen to reggae songs. Her favorite song was “Sweet Beautiful You” by the State Line. She loved to cook and clean and do laundry around the house. Duana liked to play basketball, shoot one bounce, and watch her favorite team North Carolina (Tar Heels). She was always friendly and willing to give a helping hand. She made many friends through high school and social gatherings. She loved text messaging on her cell phone and taking pictures of her friends and relatives in remembrance of them.
Duana will be greatly missed and will be remembered as a loving daughter, sister, auntie, cousin and friend. “We will cherish the special memories we have with her.”
A Wake was held Saturday, March 26 and funeral services were held on Sunday, March 27 at the Stanley Hall in Bylas, Ariz. Arrangements are under the direction of McDougal’s Caldwell Funeral Chapel. Online condolences may be extended at www.caldwellfuneralchapel.com.
