The Arizona Republic, Phoenix, Arizona Tuesday, July 1, 2003 Cora Owens Allen, age 87, passed away on Friday, June 27, 2003 at her home in Tempe, Arizona. She was born June 13, 1916, at the Heber Ranger Station in Northern Arizona, to loving parents Lucy Lenora Eagar and Franklin Horace Owens. She grew up in Heber, Lakeside, Tempe and Phoenix where she graduated from Phoenix Union High School. Cora married Frihoff Nielson Allen on September 17, 1935 in the Arizona Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and they were blessed with ten children: Grant, Patricia Stapley (Steve), Suzanne Kempton (Martin), Clark, David (Marsha), Linda Marks (Vernon), Lucy Richardson (Gary), Cora Gwilliam, Christee Ray (Gordon), and Valorie King (Todd). She is survived by her children, 74 grandchildren, 145 great-grandchildren and her beloved sister, Thelma Owens Walser Pattee. Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband, two brothers: James Owens and Vivian Owens; six sisters: Lenore Skillman, Zina Shumway, Lucy Broberg, Daisy McCoy, Faye Doyle, and Frances Breinholt; and two grandchildren: Amy Kempton and Michael Kempton. She dearly loved her family and giving service in her church. Her life radiated her strong testimony of the Savior, Jesus Christ. After serving in all auxiliaries of the LDS Church, she and her husband served and eighteen month mission in Ireland, and then many years as an ordinance worker in The Arizona Temple. Services will be held 10 AM Thursday, July 3, 2003 at The Del Rio Ward of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1881 E. Del Rio Drive in Tempe. Viewing will be 6 to 8 PM Wednesday at the church and 1 hour prior to the funeral. Memorial contributions to the LDS Church Missionary Fund, c/o: Bishop Peter Hollingsworth, 1629 E.
