KNUEPPEL, Joel D.

The Arizona Republic, Phoenix, Arizona Tuesday, July 1, 2003 Joel D. Knueppel, 53, of Chandler, Arizona passed away suddenly following cardiac surgery at Desert Samaritan Hospital on June 26, 2003. Joel was born September 6, 1949 in Rockwell, Iowa and graduated from Hampton High School in 1967. Joel was a practicing CPA with a successful accounting practice in central Phoenix. Joel received a B.S. in history from Iowa State University in 1972 and a B.S. in accounting from ASU in 1985. Joel is survived by his wife, Carolyn; son Jason Knueppel and his wife Sharie, stepsons Matt Crosson and his wife Tia, Jeff Crosson and his wife Stacey, and three grandchildren Michael Knueppel, Darryan Zawicki and Tylee Crosson. Joel is also survived by his parents, Doris and Orval Knueppel from Hampton, Iowa, two brothers and their families; Dale Knueppel from New York, and Alan Knueppel from Michigan. Visitation with the family will be at Falconer Funeral Home in Gilbert from 6-8 PM on Tuesday, July 1. The memorial service will be held at Christ's Greenfield Lutheran Church on Wednesday, July 2 at 4:00 PM. Memorial donations can be made out to "The Mankind Project," c/o Sonny Elliot at 16220 Rhyolite Circle, Reno, NV 89521. The mission of "The Mankind Project" is to create a community that empowers men to manifest their dreams. Joel was actively involved and committed to "The Mankind Project." Memorial monies will be used for scholarships.
