RUELAS, David Allan


David Allan Ruelas, 57, CSM AZ ARNG, of Phoenix, AZ, passed away June 24, 2003 in Rapid City, South Dakota. He was preceded in death by parents David & Augusta (Clark) Ruelas. He was a 4th generation decedent of the Ruelas & Clark pioneer families in Tucson, AZ. CSM Ruelas attended St. Peter and Paul and Salpoint Catholic Schools, graduated from San Manuel High School. He proudly served his country in Vietnam serving two tours with the United State Marine Corps following a break in Service, CSM Ruelas rejoined the ARNG in 1977. He attained the rank of CSM in 1994 and was mobilized to Macedonia in 1999 where he served as Camp CSM. In April 2002 he was personally selected by the Chief of Staff, ARNG to serve as Commandant of the Recruit Holding Company. CSM Ruelas was awarded numerous medals including the Purple Heart, Meritorious Service Medal with (Four Oak Leaf Clusters), Army Commendation Medal with (Three Oak Leaf Clusters) and the Army Achievement Medal with (Three Oak Leaf Clusters) as well as the Vietnam Campaign Medal with device and the Vietnam Service Medal with 2 stars. He is survived by his wife Dorinda (Dee), son Gregory, aunts Tillie Ruelas (Wm) Hagey, Mary (Clark) Trujillo, Ernestine (Clark) Munoz, Lillie & Delma Araiza, he is also survived by several cousins. A full Military Service was held at 5636 E. McDowell Rd. at 10am on Monday, June 30, 2003. Contributions in his name can be made to the Humane Society in lieu of flowers.
