STATON, Kathleen

(Maiden Name: Crisp)

The Arizona Republic, Phoenix, Arizona Tuesday, July 1, 2003 Kathleen Staton was born December 19, 1944. She passed away June 29th, 2003 in St. Luke's Hospital, with her husband at her side, after a courageous battle with cancer. Kathie was born in Cherryville, Kansas and moved to Phoenix at the age of two. She married Bob Staton, her best friend and husband for 25 years with whom she owned and operated a machining business until 2002. Kathy is a DeVry graduate, and spent years lovingly restoring their 1927 Historical District home with her husband. Anyone who knew Kathie admired her unwavering, wonderful and playful sense of humor, her kind and generous heart, and perhaps most of all, her love of animals. Kathie owned many pets in her lifetime, too many to list by name. She would spay, neuter or provide medical attention for homeless cats and dogs, located families for stray pets, and treated all animals as she did her friends, with a gentle hand and generous love and attention. Kathie will be deeply missed by all who knew her. The world was a kinder, gentler place filled with love and laughter with her in it. Kathie is preceded in death by her parents, Kitty and Frank Crisp and is survived by her brother, Gary Crisp living in Payson, Arizona. She will be fondly remembered by all that knew her well, as well as her sister-in-law, Barbara Crisp and her nephew and three nieces Mike Crisp, Suzanne Sacks, Lori Hilbink and Debbie Crisp. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Hospice of Arizona, the Arizona Humane Society or your favorite charity.
