MARIOTT, Major Dale


Mohave Daily News, Mohave Valley, AZ - Published in Mohave Daily News Online from April 1 to April 8, 2011 - Major Dale Mariott, age 80, a 16-year resident of Bullhead City, passed away on Wednesday, March 23, 2011, at his home in Bullhead City, Ariz. He was born October 8, 1930, in Paragould Ark., and was the youngest of nine children born to James and Margaret Mariott. After his graduation from Paragould High School in 1948, he earned an AA in Business Administration, and moved to Bakersfield, Calif. Major joined the Army for two years, and was stationed at Fort Meade, Md. After leaving the Army, Major worked for Hartford Insurance Company, eventually rising to the position of Regional Manager of the western states, based in Seattle, Wash. After leaving The Hartford, he worked for California Insurance Group in Alameda, Calif. He married Fonda Lovene Liles of Light, Ark., in 1951, and they had two daughters, Jerri Mariott and Virginia Mariott-Cade. They divorced in 1993. In 1994, he met Ramona Bock, and she was his companion for 16 years. They moved to Bullhead City in 1995, and resided at Davis Camp. He is survived by his two daughters, Jerri Mariott and Virginia Mariott-Cade; three grandchildren, Cole Cade, Cassandra Cade, and David Silpa; and two sisters, Kitty Downey, and Peachy Evans. No public service is planned.
