Parker Pioneer, Parker, AZ - Published on March 30, 2011 - Dorothy Ann Tonkovich Dottie T. passed away Friday March 18, 2011 at her home in Parker surrounded by family. Dottie was born on October 7, 1932 in Rosalie, Neb. At age 4, her family moved to California. In the late 1950’s, Dottie started going to the river. She married Don Tonkovich in 1965 and the next year they moved to Parker. During the 45 years Dorothy has lived in Parker, she has accomplished many things. Her early years in Parker began with the business her and Don owned, Sports Valley. This thriving business consumed most of their time; however they both were very involved with the community and their family. Dottie over the years was a great supporter of the Parker community, involving herself in many organizations, clubs, functions and projects; as well as a tremendous humanitarian. Her involvements include the Parker Area Chamber of Commerce; Chamberettes; Emerald Canyon Women’s Golf Association; a “Lifetime” member of Soroptimist Int’l of Parker; Benevolent, Patriotic Order of Does ��“ Parker Drove; and many others. She was instrumental in so many projects and improvements around the community; including the Don T Pavilion in honor of her husband, assisting in Parker Rotary events, Score 400 and the Parker Enduro boat races. Dorothy was a loving mother, terrific grandmother and passionate friend to so many; she will be greatly missed. Dorothy joins her husband Don in heaven who passed in 1995. Dorothy is survived by her daughter Donna Tonkovich Lowe (Darrin) of Tempe, Ariz.; her two sons John Funkhouser (Marge) of Fallbrook, Calif. and Don Funkhouser (MaryJo) of Oceanside, Calif. Five grandchildren: Jennifer Giaime (Mike), Jamie Leeman (Joel), Jadean Pauley (Jake), John Funkhouser Jr (Lauren) and Shayna Lowe. Six great-grandchildren: Jaylyn, Jett, Emma, Brooklyn, Joshua and Jackson. A celebration of her life will be held at the Don T Pavilion at La Paz County Park, Saturday May 14; time TBD.
