CHAPMAN, Louis


The Wickenburg Sun, Wickenburg, AZ August 30, 1984, p. 9 Louis Chapman, a Wickenburg resident, died Aug. 22 in Phoenix at the age of 75. Chapman moved to Wickenburg from Texas in 1932 and worked for approximately 10 years as a maintenance man/janitor for the Wickenburg Unified School District at MacLennan School. Born in Texas on April 28, 1909, he lived in Arizona for 52 years and after retiring in 1976 was self-employed in the lawn service business. His work at the school not only included maintenance, but he occasionally drove the bus and worked as a temporary crossing guard. He spent eight months in the Desert Terrace Nursing Home prior to his death. Survivors include his wife, Ruth Chapman, of Wickenburg; two sons, Robert Chapman, of Phoenix and Louis Edgar Chapman, of Tennessee; two daughters, Barbara Carter, of Phoenix, and Betty Stockton, of Snowflake; 20 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. There was an open-casket viewing during the memorial services in the Wickenburg services in the Wickenburg Funeral Home Chapel on Aug. 27 at 2 p.m. Pastor Adam Lautenschlager officiated. Interment followed in the Wickenburg Cemetery.
