DAVIS, Percy Leroy


The Wickenburg Sun, Wickenburg, AZ October 18, 1984, p. 22 Percy Leroy Davis, 80, died at the Yaquina Care center in Newport, Ore. on Oct. 4. He was born in McCabe, Ariz. on Nov. 10, 1903 and had been a resident of Newport since 1957. Davis was the owner/operator of Davis’s Cozy Motel in Newport until the time of his death. He was a member of the Newport Assembly of God Church and was a World War II veteran. Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Alma; one son, Percy L. Jr., of Bakersfield, Calif., and two daughters, Pearl Christianson, of Boise, Idaho and Georgia Lay, of Phoenix. He is also survived by three brothers, Charles and Chester, of Wickenburg and Donald, of Cornville; three sisters, Annie Goble and Alvy Kirby, of Wickenburg and Myrtle Mellott, of Carlton, Ore.; 20 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. At the family’s request, no funeral services were conducted. Their friends and neighbors were at graveside. Interment was in the Eureka Cemetery in Newport. Bateman Funeral Home handled the arrangement.
