CRAIG, Reg

The Wickenburg Sun, Wickenburg, AZ November 22, 1984, p. 14 Reg Craig, 70, of Wickenburg, died in Wickenburg Community Hospital Nov. 16 after a long illness at home. Craig was born 70 years ago in Old Town, Maine. His theatrical career took him from Broadway to Hollywood. He also served five-and-a-half years in the United States Navy during World Waa II. After his discharge, he left show business to raise his young family on a lemon grove in Ventura, Calif., which he operated for three years. The Craigs then traveled to Yerington, Nev. to a cattle ranching operation and later returned to his native state to raise registered Holstein cattle in Richmond, Maine. For the following eight years he owned and operated mobile home parks in Chula Vista and Costa Mesa, Calif. His final move brought him to Wickenburg in 1964 where he and his wife, Louise, built and operated the popular Rancho Casitas Guest Ranch which will continue welcoming winter guest. Craig has the distinction of being the only Wickenburg member of the Desert Caballeros men’s trail riding organization to have received the DC’s Top Hand Award and he earned his 20 year membership pin last year. He is survived by his wife, Louise; their three children, Terry Craig, owner of Craig Motors Crafts and Cathy Craig Billingsley, both of Wickenburg and Linda Craig Koughan, a physical therapist-nutritionist, of Castro Valley, Calif. He is also survived by six grandchildren, Lori and Mark Craig and Jody and Michael Billingsley, all of Wickenburg and Kara and Zachary Koughan, of California. A former boss of the Wickenburg Chamber of Commerce, it was his desire that in lieu of flowers a donation be made to the fund for restoration of the Santa Fe Depot for the use by the Chamber of Commerce. This is his small way of saying thank you for the privilege of living in this “great little town” of Wickenburg and having been able to enjoy all its surrounding beauty.
