Anton “Tony” Christofferson of Aguila died December 31 in Glendale. He was 86. Mr. Christofferson was born September 13, 1912 in Sidney, Montana and had lived in Arizona for 44 years.
He had moved to Aguila in 1954 where he worked as a foreman over the mechanics departments of F.H. Hoag as well as being a self-employed heavy equipment operator. Mr. Christofferson devoted much of his spare time volunteering at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church and helping out anyone with a need.
We will listen for a whisper of the gentle wayward wind, to tell us a silent tale. Yes, gentle to tell us all that is wonderful and true. Blow softly through our ears, and do not be too harsh for they have heard so much, they are clogged and sad. Touch us gently in our faces and leave a trace of truth. Stay with us in some small way so your countenance is upon us. Then, blow wayward again, return when you will and we will await your sound, for we shall always need a friend. Mr. Christofferson is a man who will be loved and missed by all those he touched throughout his life.
Survivors include his wife Nellie and many nieces, nephews and friends.
A Rosary will be conducted at 7 p.m. today (Wednesday, January 6) at Our Lady of Guadalupe in Aguila, with the funeral mass scheduled for 11 a.m. Thursday, January 7 at Our Lady of Guadalupe. Father John Vogt will officiate the service. Interment will be at the Wickenburg Cemetery.
