HOSTETLER, Edna Lee

The Wickenburg Sun, Wickenburg, AZ January 6, 1999, p. 14 Edna Lee Hostetler of Wickenburg passed away peacefully at home early Tuesday morning, December 29, 1998. She was 76. Mrs. Hostetler was born March 19, 1922 in Lexington, Kentucky and had lived in Arizona for 12 years, coming from California. Mrs. Hostetler and her husband Jim moved to Wickenburg from Orange County, California in 1986. She had been courageously battling respiratory illness for several years. She is survived by her husband Jim; sister, Leona De Venny of Covington, Kentucky and her three children and seven grandchildren. Her children include Sandra Knox of Castle Rock, Colorado with her husband Duane, and her daughters Cherise Parkham and Michelle Colonna; son Jim Jr. of Raleigh, North Carolina, with his wife Paula and their son Jamie and daughters Heidi and Caroline Nicole Hostetler; and son Gregg of Everett, Washington, with his wife Melissa and their daughters Amanda and Amy Hostetler. Related by marriage, Edna’s “Aunt” Helen Hostetler-Petersen, a 51 year resident of Wickenburg, passed away less than two weeks earlier on December 18 at the age of 92. Prior to her illness, Edna was often involved in volunteer activities at the Desert Caballeros Western Museum in downtown Wickenburg. Edna Hostetler will forever be remembered as a devoted wife, a beloved mother, a very special grandmother, a strongly spiritual woman, a very giving and truly caring person and a dear friend to many. Blessed are those who had the opportunity to know her. She was an avid letter-writer and was particularly fond of roses. In the minds of her children, Mrs. Hostetler’s only real regret, her most personal unfinished work, was that she did not live quite long enough to celebrate her 50th wedding anniversary. A family service was held for Edna on December 31 at Frey Funeral Home in Wickenburg. The service was officiated by Padre Dan Gerrard. Family members from coast to coast attended. She will be laid to rest locally. Contributions can be made to In-Home Health Hospice Care, 2019 W. Wickenburg Way, Wickenburg, AZ 85390 Frey Funeral Home handled all the arrangements.
