John “Jack” Edward McDonald of Upland, California and formerly of Wickenburg, died January 8 in Upland. He was 69. Mr. McDonald was born November 20, 1929 in Duluth, Minnesota and had lived in Arizona for three years.
He and his wife Darlene moved to California in 1952. He was retired as a foreman from General Electric in 1979. In 1994 he moved to Wickenburg, where he was an active member of the Knights of Columbus.
Survivors include his daughters Kathleen McDonald of Ontario, California, Jacqueline Smith of Montclair, California, Susan Ennis of palm Desert, California, Bonnie Aspey of Boulder, Colorado, Nancy Ridenour of Eloy, Arizona, Carol Castiaux of Ontario, California and Bette Ennis of Palm Desert, California; brothers Dennis McDonald of Bloomington, Minnesota and Robert McDonald of Cloquet, Minnesota; sisters, Jesse “Toppy” Taylor and Lenore “Susie” McDonald, both of Minnesota; 25 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
A memorial service was held Tuesday, January 12 at Sierra Mortuary in Riverside, California. Rosary will be held Thursday (January 14) at 7 p.m. at the Wickenburg Funeral Home Chapel and Mass will be held Friday (January 15) at 10 a.m. at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Wickenburg, with Father John Vogt officiating. He will be laid to rest next to his wife Darlene in the Wickenburg Cemetery.
Flowers may be sent to either the Riverside, California or the Wickenburg location, or a donation may be made to the American Cancer Society in his name.
