SHANNON, Carlton R.


The Wickenburg Sun, Wickenburg, AZ January 13, 1999, p. 18 Carlton R. Shannon of Aguila died January 8 in Phoenix. He was 58. Mr. Shannon was born October 2, 1940 in Luling, Texas, and had lived in Arizona 7 months. He grew up in Texas, then moved to Oregon before relocating to Aguila in June of 1997. Mr. Shannon served in the U.S. Navy, then spent time as a horse trainer. Horses, hunting, fishing and golf were favorite pastimes of Carlton. He spent 30 years of his life as a truck driver. His most recent employer was Robson’s Old West Honey Company. He will be loved and missed by all who know him. Survivors include his wife Bea Shannon of Aguila; daughter Michelle Shannon of San Diego; step-daughter Lynn close of Prineville, Oregon; step-sons Brett Henderson of Salem, Oregon and Michael Luongo of Dallas, Texas; sisters Carlene Gunter of Texas, Jonell Canova of Portland, Oregon and Marty Shaw of Aloha, Oregon; brother James H. Shannon of Portland, Oregon and five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents Carlton and Jewel and daughter Nora Nunn. Graveside services were held Tuesday, January 12 at 2 p.m. at the Eagle Eye Cemetery in Aguila with Pastor Dan Carlson officiating. Brown’s Wickenburg Funeral Home handled all the arrangements.
