WORKMAN, Claude


The Wickenburg Sun, Wickenburg, AZ January 27, 1999, p. 18 Claude Workman of Wickenburg died January 19 in Wickenburg. He was 78. Mr. Workman was born August 10, 1920 in Lockney, Texas and had lived in Arizona for 61 years. Raised in Texas, Mr. Workman was in the United States Air Force and was stationed at Luke Air Force Base. He met his wife Elizabeth while in Phoenix and the two were married in 1949. They then moved to Wickenburg in 1950. Mr. Workman worked for Mountain States and U.S. West telephone service for 38 years. Mr. Workman was a member and Master of the Masonic Lodge in the 1950s. He was known to be a dependable and honest man throughout his life. He enjoyed restoring antiques and bird hunting. He touched many lives while he was with us and will be loved and missed not only by his family but all who knew him. Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law Mark and Pat Workman of Flagstaff; sisters Almeda Phillips and Lorine King of Texas; brother Harley Workman of Texas; brother-in-law Richard and his wife Sandy Gilchrist of Illinois; grandchildren April, Cory and Audrey Workman of Flagstaff; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife Elizabeth and daughter Ruth Ann Workman. Funeral services were held Friday, January 22 at 10 a.m. at Brown’s Wickenburg Funeral Home, with Rev. James P. Longstreet officiating. Interment is at the Wickenburg Cemetery. Brown’s Wickenburg Funeral Home handled all the arrangements.
