BAKER, Mary Louise


The Wickenburg Sun, Wickenburg, AZ February 17, 1999, p. 16 Mary Louise Baker of Wickenburg, died February 13 at her home in Wickenburg. She was 85. Mrs. Baker was born October 13, 1913 in National City, California. Her grandparents were pioneer Arizonans in Yuma in the 1890s. Mrs. Baker was a graduate of Chapman College of Orange, California and worked as a Registered Social Worker in California for more than 35 years. She lived in Wickenburg for the past 10 years and volunteered her time as a Medicare counselor for the Community Action Program, served as a board member of the Wickenburg Regional Health Care Foundation and the “We Care” program. Mrs. Baker was a positive force in the lives of many and was deeply committed to service to mankind. She is survived by her children Barbara Owen (Warner) of Prescott, Stanley Baker (Polly) of Lakewood, California, John Baker (Patti) of Paso Robles, California and Carolyn Lahey (Joe) of Wickenburg; and grandchildren Erin Owen, Kelly Owen, Jaime Laurella, Samuel Laurella, Matthew Baker, Adam Baker, and Amanda Baker. Mrs. Baker was preceded in death by her husband, Lt. Cmdr. Earl Ross Baker in 1961. Graveside services will be held in Point Loma, California. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Valley or Yavapai Regional Medical Center Hospice.
