James John “Gentleman Jim” Corbett of Wickenburg, died March 20 in Wickenburg. He was 50. Mr. Corbett was born April 18, 1948 in San Francisco, California. He had moved to the Wickenburg area from Vancouver, Washington in January of 1999.
He served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam Conflict.
Gentleman Jim, as he was known locally, loved music and making everyone he met happy. He loved life and the beauty of nature. He had been a journalist and newspaper report for 26 years. Mr. Corbett was a member of the St. James Catholic Church in Seattle, Washington, the VFW in Vancouver, the American Legion Post 12 in Wickenburg, and the Marine Corps League in Klamath Falls, Oregon.
Survivors include his lady, Sherri Porter of Wickenburg; and a sister, Debbie Renfro of Wickenburg.
Jim was preceded in death by his two brothers, Mike and Rick.
Services will be held Thursday, April 8 at 10 a.m. at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona, 23029 N. Cave Creek Rd., in Phoenix, with the Disabled American Veterans (DAV) officiating.
Brown’s Wickenburg Funeral Home handled the arrangements.
