SUDDUTH, Kenneth Wayne

The Daily Courier, Prescott, Arizona Tuesday, April 05, 2011 Kenneth Wayne Sudduth passed away after fighting a courageous battle with cancer on April 1, 2011. He was born in Hopeville, Calif., on June 29, 1942. He spent his childhood in California and later moved to Prescott, Ariz., in 1959. He graduated from Prescott High School in 1960. After high school, he worked at Bob David's Texaco in the early 1960s, where he discovered his passion to become an automobile mechanic. He was married in 1964 to Roberta Lee Burmister. He later had several service stations, the old Richfield (later Arco) Station on Miller Valley Road and the Shell Station on Gurley Street. Some of my fondest memories were working at the Shell Station with my father and helping him build my first pickup truck. It was a 1965 Chevy half-ton stepside pickup - that was a real eye-opener! He also had several mechanical shops in Prescott over the years. Ken enjoyed to hunt and fish. As a child, I could not wait for the weekend so we could go fishing. He would take all of us boys to Granite Basin Lake and we would catch monster-size Bluegill. My dad loved to barbecue and would always invite the neighborhood kids over. We would play baseball in the backyard and have a grand old time. Ken was a very caring person and always helped people in their time of need. He will be deeply missed by all of his loved ones. I would like to send out a special thanks to the Good Samaritan Society Hospice and my brother Shawn for taking care of my dad in his time of need. Ken is preceded in death by his wife, Roberta, and his son, Jeff. He is survived by his sons Wayne and Shawn of Prescott; his mother Lillie Lane of Kingman, Ariz.; and his sister Donna Castillo, also of Kingman. Services for Ken will be at 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 9, 2011, at the Skull Valley Cemetery on Iron Springs Road, Skull Valley, Ariz.
