PAYNE, Robert


The Wickenburg Sun, Wickenburg, AZ April 14, 1999, p. 16 & April 21 Robert Payne of Morristown died April 13 in Sun City West. He was 69. Mr. Payne was born October 17, 1929 in Ogden, Utah and had lived in Arizona for 13 years after moving from Montana. He spent his early childhood in Afton, Wyoming, moved to Great Falls, Montana and graduated in 1948. He met Gloria Redman and married her on April 28, 1956. Mr. Payne worked as a carpenter before owning and operating Hi Line Transfer for 20 years. He was an avid woodworker and craftsman and retired to Arizona in 1986. He belonged to the Huffers and Puffers. Survivors include his wife Gloria of Morristown; son Ron Payne of Spokane, Washington; daughters Dee Mitchell and Paula Hickey of Great Falls, Montana; and six grandchildren. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service was held Saturday, April 17 at 4 p.m. at Frey Funeral Home in Wickenburg, with Pastor Ed Wessling officiating. A burial service will be held in May in Great Falls, Montana. Contributions may be made in Mr. Payne’s name to the American Lung Association, 102 W. McDowell Rd., Phoenix, AZ 85003. Frey Funeral Home and cremation Service in Wickenburg handled the arrangements.
